According to recent sources (see link at bottom of essay), ties between Cuba and the United States may improve. These ties have been strained for about fifty years since the Cuban Revolution caused some enmity between the US and Cuba. At the same time, there was also enmity between the US and Russia, the US and China, the US and the East Block, the US and North Korea, the US and Vietnam and a number of other nations. Most of these nations are now either friends or trading partners/friends with the US.

Cuba however has had a relationship with the US that has remained stagnant. Cuba's economy has also remained stagnant because of the lack of trade with the US and other economic factors.

Yet, at the same time, natinos like those mentioned above (except North Korea) have enjoyed some trade and commerce with the United States. Hence many are wondering whether the hatred for Cuba is due to political ideology, or whether IT WAS CUBA'S HELP TO AFRICANS TO MILITARY DISTROY THE COLONIALISTS AND APARTHEIDISTS IN AFRICA THAT LEADS TO THE HATRED FOR CUBA. No matter which speculation pundits come up with, the fact is THE AMERICAN MAKER OF CARS, TOOLS, FARMERS, OIL EXPLORATION COMPANIES -- ALL ARE ANGRY AND WANT THEIR PIECE OF THE CUBA TRADE AND COMING DEVELOPMENT PIE THAT OTHER NATIONS ARE CASHING INTO.

AMERICAN FARMERS, POPULATION, AUTO-MAKERS, TOOL MAKERS, OIL COMPANIES, TOWN AND CITY PLANNERS, THE BIG WINNERS AS CUBA OPENS UP

Many people who study Cuba are filled with optimism that CUBA WILL FOLLOW AN ECONOMIC SYSTEM SIMILAR TO THAT OF CHINA. 'Socialism' with Cuban characters. This 'socialism' will not be 'socialism' as it is today by more of a 'government gaurantee' to keep the lower economic classes satisfied, while opening the door for businesses and capitalism to flourish. Hence, Cuba will most likely adopt the Chinese or Swedish mode of 'Socialism,' while at the same time being influenced by people from the US and overseas to moderate on its policies.

The American farmers, tourism industry, tool makers, oil companies, food manufacturers, builders will be the biggest winners if and when Cuba opens up. Cubans and American people in general will propser because Cuba's markets will be opened to American products., That means that Cuba may not have to import from 2000 milles accross the Atlantic or 15,000 miles away in East Asia. They can import cars and other goods from Florida.

It also means the American farmers will make billions of dollars selling food crops and other commodities to Cuba. Makers of farm equipment, tools, clothes and other products will also have the opportunity to sell to Cuba. Oil drilling and exploration companies -- some of the most productive who are based and owned by US owners may also be able to work in Cuba if th present circumstances change for the better.

There is obviously great differences between the wealth of Cuba and the wealth of China, however, Cuba does not compete with US products on the global market. Cuba may also initiate a BUILDING BOOM and an agricultural development and modernization program SIMILAR TO WHAT MANY AFRICAN NATIONS ARE DOING TODAY WITH THE HELP OF CHINA.

One fact is noticed by the world's 2 BILLION PAN-NEGRO PEOPLE, especially those in Angola, South Africa, Mozambique, Latin America and even the US -- Cuba has had positive relationships with many people dispite its political contition. The liberation of many African nations today is due to Cuban help in that endeavor, say many historians. In fact, Cuba is said to have gone as far as offering medical scholarships to American students of lower income so the need for doctors in poor innercity and rural areas of the US can be alleviated.

Hence, despite political differences on some issues between Cuba and the US -- MUCH FEWER ISSUES THAN SAY CHINA OR VIETNAM, OR EASTERN EUROPE -- Cuba and the US may find a mutually beneficial relationship. When American farmers are suffering from lessening of market access, and oil Cuban oil exploration and need for technology is being planned by Cuba for Cuban waters, or Cubans want to purchase from the American market -- there is the old saying, 'money talks and that other 'stuff' walks.' There is much the US can offer and many economists and pragmatists are seeing the light before Cuba is totally dominated by nations that are about 15,000 miles to the East.

DOES CUBA HAVE MONEY TO HELP REBUILD CUBA'S INFRASTRUCTURE?

Does THE AFRICAN NATIONS WHO HAVE BEEN USING CHINA TO 'MODERNIZE' AND REBUILD THEIR INFRASTRUCTURE HAVE MONEY?

It is obvious that WHEN PEOPLE ARE NOT SPENDING DUE TO ECONOMIC BOYCOTTS, THEY ARE SAVING FOR A BRIGHTER DAY.

In the final analysis, the American People and the Cubans will do what is in the best interest of their respective populations.
